Tallahassee, Fla. — Florida Argentum today announced that its lobbyist, James McFaddin, has been named one of Argentum’s new Senior Living Leaders Under 40. Florida Argentum, formerly known as the Florida Assisted Living Federation, represents nearly 400 professionally-managed senior assisted living, independent, continuing care and memory care communities throughout the state of Florida. Argentum is the organization’s national partner.
McFaddin, a partner with Southern Strategy Group, has worked with Florida Argentum since its inception in 2012. At that time, the environment for assisted living providers in Florida was unsteady, and McFaddin provided invaluable assistance by immediately educating legislators, regulatory agencies and other industry stakeholders about the new organization and its mission for the profession.
“From the very beginning, James has worked tirelessly to advance the standards and professionalism for senior living and care,” said Gail Matillo, President and CEO of Florida Argentum. “He’s always available to our board and our membership, and we consider ourselves fortunate to consider him a colleague and a good friend.”
Due largely to McFaddin’s efforts, Florida Argentum has an effective presence and growing reputation as the leading association for professionally managed senior living communities for state lawmakers, their staff, and state agency officials looking for trusted information and resources from the industry. With McFaddin’s assistance, Florida Argentum has achieved many legislative victories, including the passage of legislation to allow more services for residents in these communities; legislation to appropriately sanction and in some cases prohibit bad actors from operating in the state; and the passage of legislation to update an antiquated fire and life safety code for assisted living communities.
“James’ strategic advice on navigating the complex world of policy and politics has allowed Florida Argentum to establish meaningful relationships with legislators and policymakers who support the interests of seniors and providers,” said Maribeth Bersani, Chief Operating Officer for Argentum. “We appreciate his dedication to the industry and our partners and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”
McFaddin, 38, built his career on a foundation that includes previous posts as director of government affairs at a Fortune 500 hospital company and chief of staff for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.
Florida Argentum represents companies that operate professionally managed senior living communities, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care retirement communities, as well as allied companies that serve with senior living operators in the state of Florida. The association is dedicated to advancing the ideals of choice, dignity, accessibility, independence and quality of life for seniors while maintaining a safe and secure environment for seniors to call home.
Argentum member companies operate senior living communities offering assisted living, independent living, and memory care services to older adults and their families. Argentum is the largest national association exclusively dedicated to supporting companies operating professionally managed, resident-centered senior living communities and the older adults and families they serve. Since 1990, Argentum has advocated for choice, accessibility, independence, dignity and quality of life for all older adults.
