Florida Argentum recently held its 5th Annual Senior Living Conference and presented a total of 14 awards to directors, caregivers and leaders.
FL Argentum’s Innovation Award was presented to Florida Senator Jeff Brandes for his efforts to support ride sharing programs and champion technology for driverless cars in the future. bring new technology to vehicles that have the capability to drive the vehicle without the need of a human operator. A second Innovation Award was given to Jill Andrew, who discovered that dementia residents drink more fluids from a red cup than a cup of any other color. This magnificent idea led to the creation of a special red water bottle which won the top award in the Health/Wellness Programs Category at the international level.
This year FL Argentum honored two individuals with the Sales and Marketing Director of the Year Award. The first award was presented to James Brassard, Community Relations Director at Inspired Living of Palm Bay. James goes above and beyond to connect with the residents inside and outside of his facility. The second award was presented to Wendy Dotson, the Sales Director at Legend Senior Living’s Windsor of Ocala. Wendy is persistent with her sales and strives to make sure all resident needs are met.
The Caregiver of the Year Award was a three-way tie, awarded to the following outstanding caregivers:
- Doreen Cornelius, Resident Care Associate at Brookdale Spring Hill. A caregiver for 17 years, Doreen is a great leader for the newer staff and loves and cares for the residents.
- Oyetola Moonan, Lead Med Tech at Forest Oaks of Spring Hill, a Holiday Retirement Community. Oyetola knows everything she does is important and makes sure if someone needs help, she is there for them.
- Angie Tytar, Resident Care Associate with Brookdale Bay Pines. She has been a caregiver for 10 years and always treats her residents with the dignity they deserve.
Bill Andrew, Life Enrichment Director with Superior Residences of Brandon Memory Care, was presented with the first Life Enrichment Director Award. Bill has been a pianist for 20 years and his music reaches individuals across generations. A second Life Enrichment Director Award was presented to Jeanette McIntosh, Lifestyle 360 Manager with the Forum at Deer Creek. Jeanette has been with the center for 26 years and works diligently with the community, the residents and her team.
This year Ursula Szekely, Director of Life Enrichment with HarborChase was presented with the Creative Enrichment Director Award. Ursula has developed innovative and life enriching programs for the residents.
The Resident Care Director of the Year Award went to Kathleen Violette with Brookdale Winter Haven. Kathleen works extra shifts to ensure that the residents have all of the loving care they need. She effectively communicates with the residents family and has demonstrated outstanding supervisory skills.
Kristen Dalrick, Executive Director of HarborChase of Palm Harbor was presented with the Executive Director of the Year Award. She has demonstrated outstanding innovation and leadership for more than 15 years. Kristen’s compassion for the residents is what makes her a great director.
The Outstanding Leadership Award went to Jay Connor, District Director of Operations at Brookdale Senior Living. Jay has been helping seniors for over 20 years. He is dedicated to the seniors and their families, has demonstrated this through his selfless efforts.
Gwen Thibault, Divisional Vice President with Legend Senior Living, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award. Gwen has outstanding leadership skills, a positive attitude and the utmost respect for all. Her dedication to FL Argentum is unparalleled.
