FL Argentum member Janice Ryalls and her community, Elmcroft of Timberlin Parc brought a dream to life for one of its residents, an elderly woman who used to be a ballroom dancer.
In addition to being a ballroom dancer when she was younger, Terrie Zumwalde used to make her own gowns and matching cummerbunds for her husband, who has since passed away. Staff at Elmcroft say Zumwalde lights up whenever dancing is mentioned, which prompted them to plan this occasion for their resident: a special dance with her son.
Thursday night, Elmcroft hosted ballroom dancers from A Social Affair Dance Studio who performed a routine for Zumwalde, her son Rick (also a former ballroom dancer) and his wife Susan, and other residents. The dancers gave Rick a quick refresher lesson so he could dance with his mother. Elmcroft also ordered Zumwalde a beautiful red gown and sparkly shoes for the occasion, as well as a matching cumberbund for Rick.
